  • Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA)

    Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA)

    The Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) is a charity dedicated to building and nurturing the effective altruism community. They hope that this community can help to build a radically better world: by connecting students and young professionals with relevant experts, they can help them consider their values and find an effective way to contribute that is a good fit for their skills and inclinations. They do this by running EA Global conferences and supporting community-organized EAGx conferences, funding and advising hundreds of local effective altruism groups, building and moderating the EA Forum, an online hub for discussing the ideas of effective altruism, and supporting community members through their community health team.

  • 80,000 Hours

    80,000 Hours

    80,000 Hours provides research and support to help students and recent graduates switch into careers that effectively tackle the world’s most pressing problems. They offer online guides which cover their key ideas, such as how to compare careers in terms of impact, which global problems are most pressing, ideas for new high-impact career paths, and how to make a career plan. They also have a podcast with in-depth interviews about the world’s most pressing problems, and how you can help solve them. They have a job board with current opportunities to work on big and neglected problems and build skills, and they offer one-on-one advice.

  • GiveWell

    GiveWell

    GiveWell is a nonprofit dedicated to finding outstanding giving opportunities and publishing the full details of its analysis to help donors decide where to give. They don't focus solely on financials, such as assessing administrative or fundraising costs. Instead, they conduct in-depth research to determine how much good a given program accomplishes (in terms of lives saved, lives improved, etc.) per dollar spent. Rather than rating as many charities as possible, they focus on the few charities that stand out most in order to find and confidently recommend high-impact giving opportunities.

  • Magnify Mentoring

    Magnify Mentoring

    Magnify Mentoring supports, inspires, and connects a global community of people who are motivated to have a positive impact with their careers and lives. Originally aimed exclusively at women, non-binary and trans people of all genders, since starting Magnify Mentoring in 2019, they have grown to a global network of over 500 community members, spanning thirty-five countries, and all inhabited continents. Following the success of their first two years, they are piloting projects to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of expanding their services to support more people with mentorship, particularly those from traditionally underrepresented groups.

  • EA Opportunities

    EA Opportunities

    The EA Opportunity Board regularly monitors and collects a wide range of opportunities, including internships, volunteer opportunities, conferences, and more. Their goal is to be the go-to board for people interested in exploring what they can do within the effective altruism community. Most of the opportunities featured are within EA organizations and initiatives, but they also feature entry-level opportunities from other organizations working on the most pressing problems. The EA Opportunity Board features opportunities that require less time or experience, while the 80,000 Hours Job Board focuses primarily on full-time positions.

    Effective Thesis

    Effective Thesis is a project that aims to help students find thesis topics with high potential to improve the world, regardless of their location and degree level. They offer free coaching to help students develop thesis topic ideas, connect students with expert researchers, suggest potential supervisors, and find relevant opportunities for students such as funding and internships.     Global Priorities Institute (GPI)

    The Global Priorities Institute (GPI) is an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Oxford that conducts foundational research (particularly in philosophy and economics) to inform the decision-making of individuals and institutions seeking to do as much good as possible.

  • Rethink Priorities

    Rethink Priorities

    Rethink Priorities is a think tank dedicated to figuring out the best ways to make the world a better place, initially founded as a project of Rethink Charity. Their research is focused on improving the welfare of nonhuman animals, but they also work on existential risks such as nuclear war.

  • High Impact Engineers

    High Impact Engineers

    High Impact Engineers aims to increase the quantity of impactful work done by physical engineers across the globe. They provide engineers with opportunities to come together, meet like-minded professionals, and collaborate on solutions to pressing problems. They provide resources tailored to engineers, a professional community, and matchmaking opportunities.

  • High Impact Professionals

    High Impact Professionals

    High Impact Professionals enables working professionals to maximize their positive impact by supporting them in donating their time, skills, and resources effectively. They support workplace and professional groups organized around the principles of effective altruism and make connections between high-impact professionals with high-impact charities and others in the effective altruism community.

  • ALLFED

    ALLFED

    The Alliance to Feed the Earth in Disasters (ALLFED) seeks to identify various resilient food solutions and to help governments and companies implement these solutions to feed everyone in the event of a global catastrophe. They focus on events, such as supervolcanic eruptions, which could deplete food supplies or access to 5% of the global population or more.

  • Forethought Foundation

    Forethought Foundation

    The Forethought Foundation for Global Priorities Research aims to promote academic work that addresses the question of how to use our scarce resources to improve the world as much as possible. They are especially interested in the idea that the primary determinant of the value of our actions today is how those actions influence the very long-run future.

  • Probably Good

    Probably Good

    Probably Good is a nonprofit dedicated to helping people maximize the positive impact of their careers. A lot of people want to do good with their careers and have a meaningful impact but still need help to figure out the best path for them. They use evidence, analysis, and expert opinion to help you find a career that works for you, and the rest of the world. They offer career guides, career path profiles, and personal career consultations.

  • Future of Life Institute

    Future of Life Institute

    The Future of Life Institute (FLI) is a non-profit that works to reduce existential risk from powerful technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, and to promote positive visions of the future. FLI's work consists of grantmaking, educational outreach, and advocating for better policymaking in the United Nations, the United States government, and European Union institutions.

  • Training for Good

    Training for Good

    Training for Good is a training organization that upskills people to tackle the most pressing global problems. Training for Good was incubated by Charity Entrepreneurship in 2021 and is aligned with the effective altruism movement. Their mission is to build an EA movement unconstrained by skill gaps with deeper experience, diversity, and leadership acumen.

  • Good Food Institute

    Good Food Institute

    The Good Food Institute (GFI) is a nonprofit working internationally to accelerate alternative protein innovation. They are developing the roadmap for a sustainable, secure, and just protein supply. They identify the most effective solutions, advance open-access research, bring new talent to the field, and empower partners.

  • Founders Pledge

    Founders Pledge

    Founders Pledge is a community of entrepreneurs who have pledged to give a percentage of the proceeds they make when they exit their company to charity. Researchers at Founders Pledge provide advice on the most high-impact giving opportunities to the pledgers.

  • Center for Applied Rationality

    Center for Applied Rationality

    The Center for Applied Rationality is a nonprofit organization based in Berkeley, California, that teaches techniques to improve epistemic and instrumental rationality. They offer workshops and coaching, and their website provides resources and a handbook.

  • Animal Advocacy Careers

    Animal Advocacy Careers

    Animal Advocacy Careers (ACC) is an organization that seeks to address the career and talent bottlenecks in the animal advocacy movement, especially the farmed animal movement. AAC provides career services for individuals at all levels of experience with animal advocacy.

  • The Life You Can Save

    The Life You Can Save

    The Life You Can Save (TLYCS) is a nonprofit organization that encourages individuals to donate 1% of their income to effective charities. TLYCS was founded by Peter Singer, following the release of his book, The Life You Can Save: Acting Now to End World Poverty.

    Future of Humanity Institute

    The Future of Humanity Institute (FHI) is a multidisciplinary research institute at the University of Oxford studying big-picture questions for human civilization. It was founded in 2005 by Nick Bostrom.

  • Open Philanthropy

    Open Philanthropy

    Open Philanthropy aims to help philanthropy improve lives effectively through research and grantmaking, and makes grants in areas including U.S. policy, farm animal welfare, and global catastrophic risks.

  • Effective Altruism Netherlands

    Effective Altruism Netherlands

    Effective Altruism Netherlands is the Dutch branch of the effective altruism community. They coordinate events and programs related to effective altruism in the Netherlands and support city and university groups.

    Doneer Effectief

    Doneer Effectief is a Dutch organization that supports people from the Netherlands and Belgium in making donations to the most effective charities. They also offer advice around tax benefits and heritages.
