    80,000 Hours provides research and support to help students and recent graduates switch into careers that effectively tackle the world’s most pressing problems. They offer online guides which cover their key ideas, such as how to compare careers in terms of impact, which global problems are most pressing, ideas for new high-impact career paths, and how to make a career plan. They also have a podcast with depth interviews about the world’s most pressing problems, and how you can help solve them. They have a job board with current opportunities to work on big and neglected problems and build skills, and they offer one-on-one advice.

    Effective Altruism Handbook

    The Effective Altruism Handbook is a series of articles that will introduce you to some of the core thinking tools behind effective altruism, share some of the arguments about which global problems are most pressing, and help you to reflect on how you personally can contribute. The handbook is structured into eight chapters, with exercises to help you reflect on your reading throughout.   • Good Food Institute

    Good Food Institute

    The Good Food Institute is a nonprofit working internationally to accelerate alternative protein innovation. They are developing the roadmap for a sustainable, secure, and just protein supply. They identify the most effective solutions, advance open-access research, bring new talent to the field, and empower partners. Their website has a lot of resources on alternative proteins. Furthermore, they offer an online course. GFI’s open-access online course, The Protein Transition, which explores the science behind alternative proteins. In five self-paced modules, you’ll learn about the biological and chemical processes used to produce plant-based, fermentation-derived, and cultivated meat, as well as the environmental and economic drivers behind these market sectors.

    Animal Advocacy Careers is an organization that seeks to address the career and talent bottlenecks in the animal advocacy movement, especially the farmed animal movement. AAC provides career services for individuals at all levels of experience with animal advocacy. Their Introduction to Animal Advocacy online course will walk you through some of the key points to helping animals through your career, which is one of the highest positive impact things you can do in your life. ​It will provide you with information on the animal advocacy community and the diverse and exciting career opportunities that are available.

    The Center for Applied Rationality is a nonprofit organization based in Berkeley, California, that teaches techniques to improve epistemic and instrumental rationality. They offer workshops and coaching, and their website provides resources and a handbook.

  • Vox Future Perfect

    Vox Future Perfect

    Future Perfect is a section of Vox's website focused on news stories relevant from an effective altruism perspective. Future Perfect explores provocative ideas with the potential to radically improve the world. It tackles big questions about the most effective ways to save lives, fight global warming, and end world poverty to create a more perfect future. There is also a Future Perfect podcast.

  • Asterisk Magazine

    Asterisk Magazine

    Asterisk is a new quarterly magazine/journal of ideas from in and around Effective Altruism. Their goal is to provide clear, engaging, and deeply researched writing about complicated questions. This might look like a superforecaster giving a detailed explanation of the reasoning they use to make a prediction, a researcher discussing a problem in their work, or deep-dive into something the author noticed didn’t quite make sense.
