Introduction Fellowship

Effective Altruism Eindhoven is running a free 5-week fellowship to learn about how you can do the most good with your life and career. Participants will combine the head and the heart, as they apply rigor and rationality to questions involving moral philosophy and altruism.

Topics include:

  • Defining what we fundamentally value and what progress toward a better world looks like

  • Exploring a wide range of problems and learning a framework for assessing which problems ar large in scale, neglected by the rest of humanity and where progress looks achievable.

  • Learning how to prioritise between the world’s most pressing problems

  • Understanding how you can realistically tackle such issues

Over the course of 5 weeks, you’ll have weekly 90-minute discussions with a cohort of 4-6 participants and one facilitator. The discussions will be held in person on the TU/e Campus. Before attending each discussion, you’ll prepare through readings and brief exercises from the curriculum, which should take about 60-90 minutes each week. We hope to provide an engaging, personalized, and enjoyable experience for each participant. The question of how we can improve the world is very complex, and we certainly don’t have all the answers. For this reason, our intention is not only to teach, but also to encourage discussion between participants and approach disagreements as interesting opportunities for novel insights.

It will enable you to identify more specific topics relevant to your interests and career and to apply for EA conferences all over the world.

To get most out of this programme, participants should be able to:

  • Prepare approximately 60-90 minutes of readings of the curriculum each week.

  • Expect to be able to attend at least 4 out of the 5 weekly 90 minute discussion sessions.

To join our next round, apply before November 13th. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis. There are a limited number of places. This means that the earlier you apply, the larger the chance we can put you in a group.
